Correlation between social supports and Drug Abuse Screening Test-10 among Senior High School Students at Pekanbaru district, Riau Province, Indonesia

ABSTRAK

Penyalahgunaan obat suatu hal yang lazim terjadi di kalangan remaja, dan merupakan masalah yang penting dalam kesehatan dalam masyarakat.  Keluarga, teman, sekolah dan masyarakat harus memberikan dukungan kepada mereka sehingga mereka mampu secara emosional dan mental untuk tidak menyalahgunakan obat.  Penelitian potong lintang ini dirancang untuk meneliti korelasi dan hubungan dukungan sosial dengan Drug Abuse Screening Test-10 (DAST-10). Subyek meliputi 210 siswa Sekolah Menengah Umum (SMU) di Pekanbaru, Riau. Data yang diperoleh meliputi dukungan sosial dari Kuesioner Dukungan Sosial Remaja (KDS-R) dan tingkat penyalahgunaan obat serta evaluasi tindakan dari DAST-10.  Penelitian ini menunjukkan dukungan keluarga, lingkungan sekolah dan dukungan teman sebaya berkorelasi secara bermakna (0.718, 0.720 and 0.727, masing-masing) dengan arah korelasi negatif dan berhubungan secara bermakna dengan DAST-10.  Dapat disimpulkan bahwa dukungan sosial dapat menjadi faktor protektif bagi remaja dalam penyalahgunaan obat.

Abstract

Drug abuse is common among adolescent, and its consequences pose important public health problem. Family, friend, school and other member of community should give support to adolescents so that they are emotionally and mentally ready to fight against drug.  This cross sectional study was designed to investigate correlation between social support with Drug Abuse Screening Test-10 (DAST-10) and association of social support with treatment evaluation.  Subjects included 210 senior high school students in Pekanbaru, Riau.  Data obtained from Adolescents Social Support (ASS) questionnaire included social supports, and from DAST-10 included severity and treatment evaluation of drug abuse. This study showed family support, school environment and peer group support were significantly associated and significantly correlation to DAST-10 with strong correlation (0.718, 0.720 and 0.727, respectively) in negative direction.  In conclusion, social supports could be a protective factor for adolescents related drug abuse.
